Winchester Corporate Finance is growing, and we're looking for an ambitious, high-energy Business Development Executive to join our commercial finance team in Chichester. We're looking for someone with energy, confidence and genuine sales instinct. You'll spend your time speaking directly with UK business owners and directors, identifying funding requirements and creating opportunities for our experienced finance brokers. This is a sales role for someone who enjoys speaking to people, likes winning and wants their performance to directly influence both what they earn and how quickly they progress. Previous sales experience is useful, but it isn't essential. We're much more interested in finding someone with the right sales acumen, personality and ambition.
What You'll Be Doing
- You'll proactively speak with UK SMEs, learning about their businesses and identifying where external funding could help them grow, invest or manage working capital.
- You'll develop knowledge across a broad range of commercial finance products, including:
- Unsecured and secured business loans
- Asset finance
- Invoice finance
- Bridging and property finance
- Development finance
- Specialist working-capital solutions
- You'll work closely with experienced commercial finance brokers and our extensive lender network, learning how opportunities are qualified, structured, placed and ultimately completed.
- As your knowledge develops, you'll take increasing ownership of opportunities and client relationships, with a clear route towards becoming a Business Development Manager / Finance Broker in your own right.
Who We're Looking For
- We're particularly interested in people with energy and natural sales ability. You don't need to know everything about commercial finance on day one - we can teach you that.
- What we're looking for is someone who is:
- Confident, energetic and engaging
- Comfortable speaking with business owners and senior decision-makers
- Competitive and motivated by results
- Naturally curious and commercially minded
- Resilient and comfortable working in outbound sales
- Quick to identify and develop opportunities
- Motivated by earning commission
- Coachable and keen to improve
- Disciplined with follow-up and CRM management
- Someone who brings personality and positive energy to a sales floor
- Previous experience in commercial finance, financial services, recruitment, B2B sales, automotive, property, telecoms or another target-driven sales environment would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Earnings
You'll receive a basic salary of £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience. On top of your basic salary, you'll earn 10% uncapped commission on the income you generate. There is no artificial ceiling on your earnings. As your ability to identify and develop successful opportunities grows, so does your earning potential.
Working Hours & Benefits
Our working week is approximately 32 hours, including an early finish every Friday. Alongside your normal annual leave entitlement, the business also consistently operates an additional Christmas office shutdown of more than one week, which does not come out of your annual leave allowance. You'll also benefit from:
- Uncapped 10% commission
- Approximately 32-hour working week
- Early Friday finishes
- Additional 1+ week Christmas office shutdown
- Structured commercial finance and lender training
- Regular sales coaching and development
- Exposure to a broad range of SME finance transactions
- Direct interaction with an extensive lender network
- Genuine career progression
Career Progression
This isn't intended to be a role where you spend years simply making calls. We have a genuine progression pathway:
- Business Development Executive
- Business Development Manager
- Senior Business Development Manager
As you demonstrate the ability to generate, understand and develop commercial finance opportunities, you'll be given increasing responsibility and the opportunity to progress into managing your own transactions and client relationships. We want ambitious people who intend to build a career with us.
Why Winchester Corporate Finance?
We're building a hardworking, ambitious and energetic sales team where good performance gets noticed. You'll have the opportunity to learn commercial finance from experienced brokers, speak directly with business owners across the UK and build knowledge of a market covering everything from straightforward working-capital facilities through to larger and more complex transactions. If you're energetic, commercially minded, competitive and genuinely enjoy selling, we'd like to hear from you.
