About the Role

Reporting into the Director of Marketing and Communications, this role leads the digital and performance marketing strategy across both Winchester College and The Pilgrims' School. It drives online visibility, audience acquisition, engagement, enquiry generation and conversion, supporting a strategic, data‑driven approach to our digital marketing activity. The postholder acts as the internal lead for digital acquisition, performance optimisation, marketing technology and digital reporting, and develops a best‑in‑class digital ecosystem spanning paid media, website performance, SEO, CRM and user experience to support pupil recruitment, engagement and wider commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the digital and performance marketing strategy across Winchester College and The Pilgrims’ School, aligned to admissions, brand and commercial objectives.
  • Act as the internal expert on digital acquisition, performance optimisation and marketing technology and digital analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, efficiency and ROI across all digital channels.

Paid Media & Acquisition

  • Plan, execute and optimise paid digital campaigns across platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, Meta, and other relevant channels).
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring strong return on investment, cost efficiency and clear reporting against campaign objectives.

Website Performance & User Experience

  • Oversee the performance, optimisation and continuous improvement of the College and Pilgrims' websites.
  • Improve user journeys from first visit through to enquiry and conversion.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to implement improvements.

SEO & Organic Growth

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive SEO strategy to improve search visibility and organic traffic.
  • Conduct keyword research, technical audits and content optimisation.
  • Collaborate with content and marketing teams to align SEO with broader campaigns.

CRM & Customer Journey

  • Optimise the CRM communication strategy in partnership with admissions teams.
  • Map and improve end‑to‑end digital user journeys from first enquiry through to enrolment and beyond.

Data, Analytics & Reporting

  • Establish clear performance measurement frameworks across all digital activity, including website, campaign, CRM and enquiry performance.
  • Build dashboards and reporting that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Use data to inform decision‑making, optimise campaigns and improve conversion rates.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

Responsible for safeguarding children and young persons, promoting their welfare and ensuring compliance with the school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and the Department for Education’s Keeping Children Safe in Education. Report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (or Deputy).
