We are looking to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic and self‑driven Building Control Team Leader to join our friendly and high‑performing Building Control Service in Winchester, Hampshire.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a quality building control service across approximately 250 square miles of central Hampshire.
  • Manage and support a team of surveyors on technical building control matters.
  • Assist the Service Lead in delivering BSR returns, service audits and the Council’s duty to collect the Building Safety Levy.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in plan checking and onsite inspections across a variety of application types.
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Act 1984, Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, IT and records management skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • BSR Class 2D competence and membership of a recognised professional body such as RICS, CABE or an equivalent organisation.
  • Physical ability to meet site‑based demands and travel requirements associated with the role.
  • Experience within a local authority Building Control environment is desirable.
