Winchester City Council is seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and self‑motivated Building Control Surveyor to join our dynamic and supportive Building Control Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high‑performing service that operates across 250 square miles of central Hampshire, encompassing a rich variety of historic towns, picturesque villages and attractive rural landscapes.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in plan checking and site inspections, along with strong communication and IT skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to effectively organise and prioritise a varied workload. A thorough understanding of the Building Act 1984, the Building Regulations, and the Building Safety Act 2022 is essential.
Qualifications
- Minimum of BSR Class 2 competency
- Member of a recognised professional body such as RICS, CABE, or an equivalent
- Capable of meeting the physical and travel demands of a predominantly site‑based role
- Previous experience in a local authority setting is desirable
- Proactive attitude and commitment to high standards
