We are looking for a Transport Supervisor to join our team.
You will work with the Transport Operations Manager to ensure that our transport fleet is compliant with the latest transport legislation and that our colleagues work in a safe and legally compliant manner.

The ideal candidate will have Road Transport CPC, IOSH/NEBOSH, and ILM 3

How will you contribute?

  • Promote a safe working environment and encourage compliance with Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Supporting the Transport Operations Manager to ensure logistics compliance for Health and Safety and all transport legislation
  • Provide outstanding service to our customers through accurate deliveries, made on time, with brilliant communication, where our drivers are seen as real ambassadors of Wincanton
  • Support the Transport Operations Manager in developing and maintaining a clear and consistent level of communication through the use of regular team briefings and individual performance reviews
  • Effectively lead the Logistics Administrator staff, always adopting and encouraging an open, positive and constructive approach, promoting a culture in which continuous improvement is sought and achieved.
  • Monitor all first–line personnel management issues including timekeeping, attendance, welfare, holidays, training and discipline for personnel within your area of responsibility.
  • Where necessary, plan and implement appropriate working patterns to provide efficient loading operations ensuring vehicle turnaround times for owned, sub-contractors, and ex-works collections are within target
  • Provide stand in cover for site logistics manager during holidays.
  • Ensure Fork lift trucks, vehicle, crane & trailer services / MOT’s / inspections are carried out and booked according to the fleet plan and in line with agreed service intervals
  • Ensure tachograph cards are downloaded as directed by company standards
  • Ensure that all daily vehicle compliance checks are carried out and recorded and that defects are recorded and actioned.
  • Support the Transport Operations Manager in complying with BSI and ISO regulations

What will you bring?

  • A good understanding of Health & Safety legislation within the transport sector
  • People management experience within the transport sector
  • A good understanding of the driver’s hours & working time directive legislation
  • Experience of controlling the servicing schedules for a fleet of vehicles
  • Good written and oral skills. Confident at presenting to a team of people
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages Excel and Word and comfortable using email
  • Well organised with good administration skills
  • Able to work on one owns initiative
  • Good interpersonal skills
