We design and implement cutting-edge automation technologies to optimise performance across the full warehouse lifecycle — from goods-in to goods-out.
About Inteq
Inteq is a fast-growing warehouse automation integrator delivering intelligent, scalable, and cost-effective solutions across retail, eCommerce, FMCG, and industrial sectors. We design and implement cutting-edge automation technologies to optimise performance across the full warehouse lifecycle — from goods-in to goods-out.
Role Purpose
You’ll play a key role in designing data-driven warehouse automation solutions that meet customer needs, operational goals, and commercial targets. Working closely with business development, technical partners, and internal teams, you’ll develop concepts, models, and layouts that form the foundation of our proposal and delivery process.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver complete end-to-end warehouse automation solutions — including layout design, performance modelling, cost analysis, and documentation — for assigned client opportunities or internal initiatives.
- Develop automation designs that span inbound receipt, putaway, storage, picking, packing, and outbound despatch using systems such as ASRS, conveyors, AMRs, shuttles, and goods-to-person technologies.
- Produce 2D and 3D layouts using tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or equivalents, ensuring accurate spatial and operational planning.
- Conduct MASS analysis (Material flow, Automation, Space, Staffing) to validate capacity, labour, throughput, and equipment fit.
- Analyse operational data from clients to inform design decisions, capacity planning, and scenario modelling.
- Prepare customer-facing documentation including process flows, technical descriptions, high-level system specs, cost models, and proposal content.
- Participate in customer meetings and presentations as a subject matter expert, clearly articulating the solution rationale and value.
- Collaborate with vendors, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to develop technically and commercially viable solutions.
- Work with commercial and project teams to develop cost models and ROI cases.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and design practices in automation and intralogistics.
- Support transition to project delivery teams by documenting solution intent and ensuring full solution design clarity.
Experience & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse solution design, intralogistics, or automation engineering.
- Hands‑on experience with automation systems such as conveyors, shuttles, ASRS, AMRs, and goods-to-person solutions.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or equivalent 2D/3D layout and modelling tools.
- Strong capability in MASS analysis and translating operational data into practical designs.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI or similar tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of cost/performance dynamics in automation.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with clarity, focus, and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience working with or for warehouse automation integrators, consultancies, or MHE vendors.
- Exposure to system architecture, software integration, and WMS/WES/WCS requirements within automation environments.
- Understanding of systems thinking, modularity, and scalability in automation design.
- Familiarity with solution architecture frameworks particularly in relation to warehouse technology ecosystems.
- Experience developing functional requirement documents, interface definitions, or system-level specs.
- Working knowledge of simulation or emulation tools for performance modelling.
- Awareness of safety regulations, ergonomic standards, and operational risk in automated environments.
Location
Hybrid role, home based with some attendance at head office in Milton Keynes and travel to customer sites as necessary.
