Due to significant growth opportunities and contract expansion within Group Transport we are looking for experienced Transport Yard Controller to join our Sector and support our expansion. To deliver great service to our stores through effective day to day management and engagement of our transport colleagues. Under the guidance of the Transport Team Managers, working to create an effective and positive working environment, which supports the delivery of the transport KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Duties and responsibilities
- Manage and ensure the efficiency of trailer availability.
- Act as the hub of communication for the depot, collaborating effectively with every relevant department.
- Ensuring that a robust shift handover is completed.
- Provide instructions to the depot shunt teams.
- Managing movements within the yard; making sure they are prioritised as and when necessary.
- Accurate representation of the yard view.
- Assist the fleet department with all their servicing and maintenance requirements.
- Responsible for the correct placing of vehicles within the yard.
- Creates and sustains effective working relationships displaying our values.
- Collate data and escalate concerns as and when necessary to line manager.
- Pre shift brief with the shunt team to run through shift requirements whilst working on colleague engagement
- Manage inbound / outbound ANPR – dealing with any issues that present themselves.
- Associated Transport Clerical Duties as required
Qualifications
- Good understanding of the warehouse / transport operation.
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative.
- Customer focused.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Organisational and analytical skills.
- Flexible approach to a small team environment.
- PC literate. (Excel / Word)
