We are looking for a Transport Admin Clerk to join our Grocery Sector based at our site in Charlton, London. This challenging and exciting role will appeal to individuals with experience, drive, determination, and enthusiasm. The role is permanent days with a rota pattern that includes weekends. Employees will work any 5 shifts per week from 7 on.
Working Schedule:
- Evening shift: 13:45‑21:45
- Morning shift: 05:45‑14:00
- Mid‑day shift: 06:00‑13:00
- Long day shift: 05:45‑18:00
How will you contribute?
- Administer the movement of vehicles received and dispatched from the site in a timely, safe and accurate manner.
- Perform activities in line with KPI requirements and service agreements.
- Help develop a culture of continuous improvement to drive best‑in‑class activity and operational excellence.
- Be accountable for personal health and safety practices.
- Ensure that Wincanton health and safety policy and procedures are followed at all times.
- Follow any customer‑specific health and safety requirements where applicable.
- Assist the Health and Safety Manager in resolving health and safety and welfare matters.
- Take appropriate action to remove or reduce any significant risks or hazards identified.
- Raise any opportunities for improvement or concerns regarding the working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle and driver movement through WMS/transport IT systems.
- Work in accordance with agreed targets for productivity, performance, accuracy, timekeeping and attendance.
- Escalate issues to managers in line with agreed procedures.
- Work as trained and in accordance with company procedures with regard to all tasks undertaken within the role.
The Person:
- Previous experience working in an office environment.
- Previous experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Previous transport experience is preferred but not essential.
- Understanding of Drivers Working Time Directive and EU Regulations is desirable but not essential.
- Strong administration skills, including attention to detail, timeliness and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Self‑motivated with a ‘can do’ approach.
- Good team player who can also work on their own initiative.
- Goal‑oriented, looking to progress and develop within the department and the company.
- Good communication skills at all levels.
