Salary: £19.20 per hour (basic), plus overtime and comprehensive benefits

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: Day Shifts (Start Times: Between 05:00–08:00), on a 4-week rota: 4 days, 4 days, 5 days, 4 days totaling 170 hours per 4 weeks

Job Purpose: To deliver goods safely and efficiently to Sainsbury’s convenience stores using a Class 2 vehicle. This role ensures timely deliveries, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with transport regulations. Drivers contribute to store operations and represent Wincanton Dedicated Grocery professionally within the supply chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle in accordance with road safety and company standards.
  • Carry out multi-drop deliveries to Sainsbury’s convenience stores and regional distribution centres (RDCs).
  • Safely unload caged or palletised goods using tail lift and kerbside delivery methods.
  • Ensure all delivery documentation is accurately completed, signed, and returned.
  • Collect empty cages, returns, or agreed waste materials from stores.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, acting as a professional representative of Wincanton Dedicated Grocery and Sainsbury’s.
  • Comply with tachograph regulations, driver hours legislation, and company transport policies.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and maintain up-to-date CPC certification.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
  • Minimum of 12 months HGV driving experience.
  • Drug & Alcohol Test at Interview Stage.
  • Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience in retail or commercial delivery environments is desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
