Wincanton for Sainsbury's at our Thameside depot in London are looking for a Warehouse Team Manager to join the team. You will lead a team of colleagues across four grocery chambers (ambient, frozen, chill and produce) to receive, pick and load store orders accurately, safely and in a timely manner to meet the outbound loading schedule.
The Warehouse Team Manager reports directly to the Warehouse Shift Manager and will be responsible and accountable for managing and motivating a team of up to 20-30 colleagues to deliver targets to strict timelines. This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to work closely with peers and engage at all levels with good communication skills.
The salary for this role is dependent on experience, starting from £32,400 per annum. Any 5 days from 7, shift times are rotating earlies and lates 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 22:00.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Motivate and manage the team to achieve, and where possible exceed, all performance objectives.
- Effective management of resources to achieve KPIs (cost, quality, service, and absence).
- Ensure a proactive approach to Health & Safety via risk assessment and by ensuring that warehouse team members comply with Health and Safety policies and requirements.
- Conduct regular individual reviews and where necessary agree a performance improvement plan.
- Manage employees through the effective application of Company terms and conditions, policies (capability and conduct, absence, equal opportunities) and procedures (grievance, disciplinary, terminations).

- Experienced in supervising or managing a team in a warehouse environment.
- Attention to detail in order to analyse data and make recommendations.
- Customer focused and able to build effective relationships with team, client and other third parties.
- Experience of health and safety regulations in a warehouse environment is essential.
- Experience in a warehouse environment, including detailed understanding of warehouse management systems.
- Excellent communication skills combined with logical problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiastic, committed and able to respond positively to changing demands.
- Experience of using MS Office applications such as Word, Excel to an intermediate standard.
