Job Description

Transport Team Manager
5 on 3 off shift pattern (with varying start times).
Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum *Dependent on level of experience.

We\’re growing at Wincanton, along with our customer IKEA. Join us as Transport Team Manager in our state of the art depot in Dartford. As Transport Team Manager, you will assist with the smooth running of our busy transport operation, through safe practises, optimisation and day to day operational activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the smooth running of our busy transport operation by effective management, optimisation and quality processes.
  • Manage on road issues and the delivery failure process, liaising with customers and finding solutions.
  • Engaging leadership through pre-shift/de-briefings, training and coaching of driver/porters (including transportation safety and compliance).
  • Allocate fleet and crews for home delivery to correct routes, planning and optimising fleet.
  • Manage performance to a high standard along with compliance to all legal requirements. Ensuring high standards are met in line with Wincanton and our customers quality processes.
  • Managing drivers hours ensuring records are accurate in readiness for audits and compliance.
  • Undertake investigations where necessary for any incidents including missing items.
  • Ensure Safe Systems of Work processes are followed in the line with site Health and Safety regulations.

What will you bring to our team?

  • Passion to deliver in a fast-paced transport operation, with previous transport experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in using transport management systems and savvy with IT including MS packages.
  • Proven knowledge of driver/transport legislation and proud to deliver compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to work on own initiative as well as team engagement/delivery.
