Job Description:

We currently have an opportunity for a Part Time Driver Shunter at our distribution centre in Sherburn in Elmet, Sainsbury’s contract.

How will you contribute?
  • Be responsible for allocating vehicles to the schedule in line with specific kit requirements.
  • Work closely with planning and warehouse departments to ensure smooth loading operations and manage yard activities.
  • Report incidents or accidents occurring on the road or at the depot.
  • Comply with driver hours legislation and all road traffic regulations.
  • Follow health and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required for the effective operation of the site, including the movement of stock in a professional, economical, and safe manner, following company procedures and maintaining the company image.

The Person:

  • HGV Class 1 license with shunter experience preferred.
  • At least 12 months of HGV driving experience.
  • Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and provide interactive teaching.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and credibility.
  • Knowledge of transport and health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexible, team-oriented approach.

Shift commitments:

The shift pattern is Wednesday to Friday, with 12-hour rotating shifts from 18:00-06:00 and 17:00-05:00.

Pay: Basic rate of £17.33 per hour. Night and weekend premiums apply.

Holidays and lieu days are pro-rated, totaling 234 hours annually plus service days if eligible.
