Reports to the DCM at Asda Doncaster. The role will be responsible for managing the site bond team ensuring that all HMRC customs & excise compliance requirements are met. The role will also take overall responsibility for the delivery of training to all Bond Team members and ensure that all intake, warehouse, and removal processes are up to date. This is a critical role, as the role is responsible for all day-to-day excise transactions and processes on site and must ensure that the site remains HMRC compliant. The role will include coordinating work with local operation teams and contacting clients for any excise related issues. The candidate must be flexible to travel to different locations as per business needs. The candidate will develop and lead the WDGB bonded strategy for future growth, support Customs and Excise warehouses and support the implementation of new Customs and Excise Warehouses.
Key Accountabilities
- Support management of all Wincanton Customs & Excise Approvals
- Ensure all inbound and outbound movements are processed correctly through Manhattan / DMS
- Support site Bond Teams
- Support the Bond Team check & process all duty payments, ensuring the correct duty and VAT declarations are made to HMRC via ATWD
- Support the Bond Teams to ensure daily reconciliations are performed between Manhattan & DMS to ensure the stock holding on both systems are aligned
- Support the W1 warrant creation and submission to HMRC
- Monitor DMS daily for outstanding transactions and errors
- Support stocktakes and results
- Ensure knowledge of HMRC compliance and practices is maintained in line with current legislation/regulation through continuous professional development
- Develop & lead the Bond Strategy for future growth
Experience Required
- 2 -3 years Bond operational experience
- 2 years Management experience
- Displays appropriate Wincanton leadership behaviours
- Ability to strategically plan
- Full Understanding of HMRC bonded warehouse process, understanding of warehouse operation, and the ability to manage the balance between day-to-day operation & ad-hoc tasks
- Full understanding of Manhattan & Descartes Systems
- Level 3 Excise Practices & Procedures qualification – desirable
- Presentation and communication skills
- Communication with a wide range of individuals in the operational environment
- Developing knowledge on Duty and Excise
