Overview
Wincanton are looking for a 7.5 tonne driver who has a passion for customer service to join our 2 person home delivery team in Northampton carrying out a mixture of deliveries for our Wickes contract. The role includes driving vans alongside other vehicle types, as operational needs dictate.
Salary and schedule
Salary £36,270 per annum plus yearly bonuses of £1,300. Tuesday to Saturday. Starting between 04:00 and 06:00. 45 hours per week. Overtime paid at basic hourly rate.
Responsibilities
- Delivering kitchen and bathroom flatpack products as part of a two-person crew to customer houses and flats.
- Drive Company vehicles and operate Company equipment in a safe and professional manner in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Comply with vehicle security and always standing procedures.
- Carry out vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks prior to operation, reporting defects immediately.
- Report any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner.
- On return to site, report to the traffic office for full debrief.
- Self-manage and use initiative for solving problems.
- Ensure Health and Safety of themselves and others, adhering to safe working practices and the Health & Safety at Work Act, including accident, incident, and damage reporting.
Experience and Qualifications
- Must hold a valid in-date C1 licence
- Must hold a valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Full Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC)
- Minimum 6 months driving experience
- Positive, flexible attitude to work
- Good timekeeper, ability to work unsupervised
- DBS check will be undertaken
- Physically demanding role with heavy manual handling
