Shift Pattern: Day Shifts (Start Times: Between 05:00-08:00), working on a 4 week rota, 4 days, 4 days, 5 days, 4 days = 170 hrs per 4 week

Job Purpose:

To deliver goods safely and efficiently to Sainsbury’s convenience stores using a Class 2 vehicle. This role ensures timely deliveries, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with transport regulations. Drivers play a vital role in supporting store operations, representing Wincanton Dedicated Grocery professionally, and contributing to overall supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle in accordance with road safety and company standards.
  • Carry out multi-drop deliveries to Sainsbury’s convenience stores and regional distribution centres (RDCs).
  • Safely unload caged or palletised goods using tail lift and kerbside delivery methods.
  • Ensure all delivery documentation is accurately completed, signed, and returned.
  • Collect empty cages, returns, or agreed waste materials from stores.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, acting as a professional representative of Wincanton Dedicated Grocery and Sainsbury’s.
  • Comply with tachograph regulations, driver hours legislation, and company transport policies.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and maintain up-to-date CPC certification.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
  • Minimum of 12 months HGV driving experience.
  • Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience in retail or commercial delivery environments is desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
