Transport Supervisor
We are recruiting for a permanent Supervisor to work in the operation at JD Sports Dunstable . As a Supervisor, you will motivate, encourage, guide, and manage team members to meet KPI\’s and performance requirements.
Shift Pattern: Working 4 on 4 off.
Working Hours: This will be a day shift 07:00 – 19:00; however, flexibility is required to support the operation.
How will you contribute?
- Daily running of the Transport operation.
- Ensuring completion of all administrative and legislative tasks required to maintain performance of the operation.
- Liaising with other departments to avoid delayed departures and/or deliveries.
- Clear communication to the relevant area, should there be operational delays.
- Ensure operational security requirements are adhered to e.g., vehicle keys, phones, fuel cards.
- Collation and input of statistical information for various reports.
- Engage directly with customer service to provide updates in relation to deliveries.
- Management of tachograph records for the allocated driver team.
- Promote good driver behaviours utilising tools including Mix telematics for the allocated driver team.
- Providing leadership and motivation for the admin team and driver team, including regular 121’s, career plan discussions, and succession planning.
- Conducting investigations within a timely manner.
- Conducting accident investigations within a timely manner.
- Assist with the management of vehicle defects through the VOR process.
- Actively be involved in the recruitment, training, and coaching of all admin and driver colleagues.
- Management of the sickness absence process, including accurate record keeping and RTW interviews.
- Support the site with any ad hoc administrative tasks that are required.
- To work between both locations in the Midland Campus.

- Experience within a transport/busy operational environment is desirable.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Well organised with the ability to prioritise tasks as required.
- Excellent communicator at all levels.
- Understanding of drivers working time directive and EU regulations.
- A positive and flexible attitude to work being reliable and punctual.
- Comfortable working in a pressurised environment and to tight deadlines and on your own initiative.
- Excellent computer skills are critical to this role, specifically MS Office applications such as Word and Excel; knowledge of Distribution/Transport Systems would be advantageous.
