Job Purpose:
To deliver goods safely and efficiently to Sainsbury’s convenience stores using a Class 2 vehicle. This role ensures timely deliveries, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with transport regulations. Drivers play a vital role in supporting store operations, representing Wincanton Dedicated Grocery professionally, and contributing to overall supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle in accordance with road safety and company standards.
- Carry out multi-drop deliveries to Sainsbury’s convenience stores and regional distribution centres (RDCs).
- Safely unload caged or palletised goods using tail lift and kerbside delivery methods.
- Ensure all delivery documentation is accurately completed, signed, and returned.
- Collect empty cages, returns, or agreed waste materials from stores.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Deliver excellent customer service, acting as a professional representative of Wincanton Dedicated Grocery and Sainsbury’s.
- Comply with tachograph regulations, driver hours legislation, and company transport policies.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions and maintain up-to-date CPC certification.
Candidate Requirements:
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
- Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
- Minimum of 12 months HGV driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience in retail or commercial delivery environments is desirable.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
