Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the role will be responsible for the people services function ensuring the operational management of the service including changes to T&C's, Policy and Processes, Payroll and People Shared Service teams. The role will be responsible for ensuring effectiveness of key processes such as Payroll, Onboarding/Offboarding, Right to Work, Security Vetting, process development and operational assurance ensuring all compliance and standards in relation to these processes are met and optimising technology to promote efficiency.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Manage a wide range of operational deliverables including payroll, tier one People Support, benefits, process development and maintenance, knowledge and assurance and hire to retire administration.
- Design and implement the People Services delivery plan managed through the central People Services and Payroll Teams.
- Provide strategic leadership and coaching to the People Services team ensuring they are equipped to deliver service requirements to the business.
- Work with the Interim Director of People transformation Payroll Project Manager to deliver the appropriate plans to stabilize the payroll, including system reconfiguration, team structures and processes.
- Provide updates to the business on People services performance and be the last point of escalation for large scale issues.
- Work with IT and Finance colleagues to manage the ongoing improvements of Oracle system providing assistance with systems development and maintenance.
- Ensure the People service operating model meets business and colleague needs now and for the future, ensuring that the structure is fit for purpose and the team have the capacity and capability to deliver the service.
- Proactively identify innovative solutions to improve service delivery, colleague, and management knowledge.
- Ensure People applications are supported and developed from a functional perspective working with our 3rd party support partner.
- Communicate organisational goals to the People Services team and implement a structured approach to planning for the team, driving a culture of ownership and collaboration.
- Develop and foster strong relationships with all business areas including EMT, Business Sectors and people teams, responding to their requirements.
- Collaborate on wider People initiatives including L&D, Reward and Business Partnerships to deliver a streamlined service to the business.
- Promote a high-performance environment, with a focus on team collaboration. Ensuring SLA’s and KPI’s are adhered to. Monitoring and maintenance of service standards, audits and performance metrics and GDPR compliance.
- Support People Partners and service delivery teams with complex queries i.e., TUPE transfers, benefits administration and People transactions.
- Manage all aspects of supplier relationships relating to people service requirements.
- Design, lead and deliver on People services related change projects that will oversee and review procedures relating to: electronic document management; documentation review; process reviews; merger and acquisition post integration activity and process harmonisation, TUPE transfers, New Business implementations, intranet development and content management.
- Work with wider People Leadership team to continually create value-based synergies and efficiencies in our operating model in order to realise business benefits.
- Preparation of management reports on transactional activity as required.
- Carry out duties in line with internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and our companies’ shared values, putting clients at the heart of our business. Ensure all appropriate audits are undertaken in a compliant fashion, and observations and improvements implemented.
- Where improvements are identified take pro-active leadership and responsibility for swift remedial action planning and action in conjunction with the relevant subject matter experts.
Experience, skills and attributes:
- Demonstrable and strong leadership skills across multi-disciplined teams.
- Generalist HR background gained in large multi-site and multi-customer organisations – ideally in a supply chain environment.
- Leadership and Management of multiple and complex payrolls.
- Leadership and Management of ERP system implementation and transition to BAU.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills at senior and executive leadership levels.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at an operational level.
- People Strategy and service level development experience.
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive and engaging approach to problem resolution.
- Proven experience of delivering successful enterprise-wide change programmes.
- Ability to manage complex, challenging situations and prioritise a high workload.
