As part of the National Fleet & Engineering Team, you will support our business in delivering best-in-class vehicle safety, compliance, and effectiveness.
We operate one of the largest and most diverse fleets in the UK working with leading customers across all industry sectors ranging from last-mile home delivery through to ADR tankers, and mechanical offload drawbars.
You will provide technical vehicle expertise, building on existing industry relationships and creating new ones to ensure our fleet achieves the highest levels of up-time, the lowest cost of operating, while maximising compliance performance.
The role is remote based with the requirement to travel on average one day per week.

How will you contribute?
- Responsible for leading serious engineering matters ensuring that all necessary investigations and evidence is collected, analysed, and production of reports to drive any required corrective and preventative action.
- Management of multiple fleet service suppliers to deliver exceptional planned maintenance compliance performance and MOT pass rates. Full understanding of legal requirements related to the operation of heavy goods vehicles.
- Management of multiple fleet service suppliers to ensure accurate and effective repairs, including the management of costs.
- Work collaboratively with multiple fleet service suppliers and various Wincanton operational teams to continuously improve compliance, uptime, and cost performance.
What will you bring?
- Expert knowledge of HGV vehicle and trailer design, specification, and maintenance that will support introduction of new assets, in-life service management, and effective end-of-life disposal.
- Experience in the management of double-deck systems, tail-lifts, fridge units, and other ancillary equipment.
- Ability to use a variety of vehicle management systems and analyse key data and produce and lead actionable recommendations for performance improvements, including short- and longer-term projects.
