About the role:
We are currently recruiting for HGV Class 1 drivers to join our busy and evolving transport team in Runcorn. You’ll be working for a leading logistics company and involved in ensuring that the trade counters across the country have sufficient stocks in order to supply their customer’s needs. Everything from screws to lawn mowers to the kitchen sink!
Basic salary of £41,696.46 + Shift Premiums of up to £14.08 per hour. Overtime Opportunities are also available, a flat rate of £20 per hour added on top of your basic salary. Premiums and overtime are paid 1 month in arrears.
Working Hours: 50 (Any 5 from 7). Monthly pay. Annual Holiday Entitlement of 31 days.
Shifts Available: Working 5 out of 7 days a week on 11:00 - 13:00.
Day to Day:
- Collection and delivery of small to large high-value consignments that require special handling conditions to Screwfix stores.
- Consistently ensure customer expectations are met.
- Ensure all documentation is completed and returned accurately at the end of each shift.
- Adhere to specific time restrictions given under current legislation.
- Adhere to legislative regulations and company policies.
- Driving activities will generally consist of inter-site and intra-site deliveries, supplier collections around the UK.
- Cross training on warehouse activities may be given to offer flexibility and business continuity to the operation.
Types of fleet include: Standard Artic, Urban Trailers, Double Decker Trailers, Curtain siders and Fleet Volvo Tractor Units.
What you will bring:
- Must have a valid Class 1 licence.
- Have over 1 year’s experience driving Class 1.
- Full CPC Qualification.
- Must hold Digital tachograph card.
- Must not have more than 7 points on licence.
- Strong communication skills, particularly verbal, to develop good working relationships with colleagues and customers.
- A responsible and reliable attitude.
- Experience of multi drop collection and deliveries together with experience of working in a warehouse environment will be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
- The ability to safely lift or move heavy items.
- Enthusiastic and reliable with a commitment to delivering first class customer service and a flexible can-do attitude to work.
- Good geographical knowledge.
- Good timekeeper.
