Come and join our friendly team of drivers at our Customer Fulfilment Centre for Waitrose, Greenford. The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Working Pattern: Mix days, Fixed hours (37.5 hours per week)
Shift: AM shift starting time between 04:30am-6:30am (your start time will be allocated on a rota basis), PM shift starting between 12pm-3pm (your start time will be allocated on a rota basis).
Within this role, you will:
- Spend your day greeting customers and delivering their shopping on time with lots of Waitrose personality.
- Operate your vehicle in a safe, legal and economical manner.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks accurately and follow correct defect procedures.
- Load up, fuel and check the van for the next route, or give a customer a call to inform them of their shopping arrival time.
- Deal with any queries or complaints in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Work towards deliveries in line with key performance indicators (KPIs).
The role is hands-on, involves heavy lifting/handling and is full of variety. No two shifts are ever the same – customers look for help in all kinds of different ways.
You’ll need:
- Previous experience is a bonus (although not essential) for Customer Delivery Drivers; we’re more interested in your customer service background, enthusiasm, friendly personality, and that you care about making a difference for Waitrose’s customers and colleagues.
- To be over 18 years old, have a full UK driving licence (manual) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Enjoy helping others and working in a team.
- Be results orientated and able to work to schedules.
- Understand the basics and importance of Health and Safety procedures.
- Able to lift and handle goods.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Take the initiative and use common sense.
- Have a good degree of literacy and numeracy.
- Stay calm under pressure.
- Be a safe and courteous driver who can deliver outstanding service right to our customers’ doors.
