Overview
Environment. To deliver great service to our stores through effective day to day management and engagement of our transport colleagues. Under the guidance of the Transport Team Managers, work to create an effective and positive working environment which supports the delivery of transport KPIs. This role acts as the hub of communication for the depot, collaborating with every relevant department, and ensures a robust shift handover. Provides instructions to the depot shunt teams and manages movements within the yard, prioritising as necessary. Responsible for accurate representation of the yard view and for assisting the fleet department with servicing and maintenance requirements. Develops and sustains effective working relationships displaying our values and collates data to escalate concerns to the line manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage and ensure the efficiency of trailer availability.
- Act as the hub of communication for the depot, collaborating effectively with every relevant department.
- Ensure a robust shift handover is completed.
- Provide instructions to the depot shunt teams.
- Manage movements within the yard and prioritise as necessary.
- Maintain an accurate representation of the yard view.
- Assist the fleet department with servicing and maintenance requirements.
- Responsible for the correct placing of vehicles within the yard.
- Create and sustain effective working relationships displaying our values.
- Collate data and escalate concerns to the line manager as required.
- Pre-shift brief with the shunt team to run through shift requirements and support colleague engagement.
- Manage inbound/outbound ANPR and resolve issues as they arise.
- Carry out associated transport clerical duties as required.
Qualifications
- Essential: Good understanding of the warehouse/transport operation.
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative.
- Customer focused.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Organisational and analytical skills.
- Flexible approach to a small team environment.
- PC literate (Excel/Word).
