An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business operating within the mechanical and electronics sector. The company designs and delivers specialist equipment to a global customer base and is known for high-quality, engineered solutions.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented engineer with strong experience in AutoCAD and electrical design documentation, looking to be part of a collaborative and evolving team.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed 2D drawings in AutoCAD, including full Bills of Materials (BoM)
- Develop and maintain control panel layout drawings
- Generate and integrate wiring lists into drawing packages
- Create and update drawings for electrical assemblies
- Prepare and maintain schematic diagrams using Microsoft Visio
- Apply consistent labelling, part numbering, and version control across all documentation
- Support the development and maintenance of electrical data specifications
- Assist with electrical design across a range of engineered products (including HVAC-related systems)
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs meet project and quality requirements
- Maintain organised drawing records and revision histories
- Proven experience using AutoCAD for 2D control panel or electrical layout design (essential)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio for schematics and diagrams
- Understanding of electrical assemblies, wiring diagrams, and schematic standards
- Strong attention to detail with robust version control practices
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Excellent organisational and documentation skills
- Strong communication and team collaboration abilities
- Experience with SolidWorks (desirable, not essential)
- Background in electrical design, control panel design, or electrical drafting
- Exposure to manufacturing or assembly processes
- Familiarity with engineering change management (ECM) processes
