General Manager
£50,000 – £60,000 plus benefits

Winberry are working exclusively with an established steel manufacturing and fabrication business in West Sussex, now under new ownership, to appoint a General Manager who can make a genuine impact.
This is a brand-new position, giving you the opportunity to shape how the business operates, develop the team, influence the culture and help drive the next stage of its growth.
You’ll be a hands-on, visible leader working closely with the owners, taking responsibility for day-to-day operations while bringing structure, accountability and commercial focus to the business.
The role
You’ll take ownership across:
- Day-to-day operations, workflow and resource planning
- Leading, developing and getting the best from an established team
- Creating a positive, accountable and collaborative culture
- Customer relationships and operational problem-solving
- Taking customer enquiries through to accurate, commercially viable quotations
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Improving processes, communication and operational efficiency
- Supporting commercial performance and business growth
- Working closely with the owners to shape the future direction of the business
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced manager from a steel manufacturing, flashings and fabrication or engineering environment who combines strong operational and people leadership with genuine commercial understanding.
You'll need:
- Proven quotation experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment – this is essential
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information
- Experience managing and developing people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to motivate a team and get the best from people
- A practical, hands-on approach to management
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
- Experience or knowledge of powder coating processes would be advantageous
