To deliver the Museum & Collectionsteam Vision byincreasing access to the collections atthe AELTC through improved documentation, increasing digitisation and excellent collection care.

  • What you will be doing
  • Work with other members of the team toidentifyand prioritise projects to improve documentation, increase digitisation and improve collection care.
  • Maintaintheintegrity of thecollections management system (Vernon)through cataloguing andthedata cleaning of all types of records.
  • Assistwith the development of collections policies and proceduresin accordance with SPECTRUM standards.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Collections Development and specialist knowledge and contacts toadvisethe Collections Development Group.
  • Documentallnew acquisitionsinto the collections, catalogue items andrehouse them.
  • Appropriately handle, labeland mark a variety of object types and materials in line with best practice as well as overseeing the movement of all collection items.
  • Work toreducethecataloguingbacklog, reviewingprogress on a regular basis.
  • Identifyand rehouse items asrequiredand rearrange areas of the stores when necessary.
  • Assistwith the monitoring of storage spaces, ensuring the correct standard for environmental conditions are met.
  • Courier loans whenrequired.
  • Respond to collection related enquiries and supervise researchers viewing objects from the collections.
  • Prepare records for entry onto Collections online ensuring the platform is maintained.
  • Help to develop a programme and management of students on collections-based projects.
  • What you will be doing during The Championships
  • Assist with the conservation, cleaning, and movement of the Championships trophies.
  • Assist with Championships Collecting and process items coming into the collections.

About you

  • Experience of documenting and caring for historic collections and working within collections teams.
  • Experience of using collections management software.
  • Experience ofhandling, packing, marking, moving, storingand cataloguing collectionsto SPECTRUM standards.
  • Ability to prioritise different tasks, keep track of projects and report on them.
  • Highly organised, able to manage your own workload effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn and digest information quickly as well as having excellent attention to detail.
  • Very goodstandard of written and spoken English.
  • Experience of working through collection backlogs and associated challenges.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programmesand software.
  • Commitment to your own professional development.
  • An interest insporing heritage, ortennis and tennis history would be an advantage.
  • Confidence when communicating with a range of researchers and the public would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work extended hours, some evenings and weekends asrequired.

The historic collections consist of over one million items comprising museum objects, archives, photographs and books.

The team develop and interpret these items in the museum, digitally and in displays and exhibitions around the Grounds.
