Serving up to 1,000 nutritious meals daily across breakfast, mid-morning break, and lunch, we deliver wholesome food while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental sustainability ( Cura Terra ) and community ethos.
Responsibilities Included Within This Role As our Catering Manager, you will:
Lead and inspire an established kitchen team of 10 staff in a supportive environment.
Design seasonal, high-quality menus that comply with School Food Standards.
Manage kitchen operations & safety , ensuring 100% compliance with Natashas Law , HACCP, and maintaining our 5-star food hygiene rating.
Take ownership of kitchen finances , managing food costs, ordering, stock audits, and supplier relations.
Drive green initiatives , actively reducing food waste and eliminating single-use plastics across our dining services.
Oversee our cashless software , running the day-to-day Live Register platform seamlessly.
Skills, Experience & Abilities Required To thrive in this role, you will need:
Experience: A proven track record managing a high-volume catering operation ( 800+ covers ) and leading a kitchen team.
Qualifications: Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering ( Level 4 is desirable ) and Level 2 English & Maths.
Key Skills: Strong financial awareness (food cost percentages, inventory control, and variance auditing), menu planning, and allergen governance.
Personal Qualities: High professional integrity, clear communication skills, and a positive, team-first leadership approach.
Licence: A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle ( for occasional emergency wholesaler visits ).
Working Hours & Additional Information Work-Life Balance: Enjoy steady daytime hours ( 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM ) with evenings and weekends free .
School Holidays Off: Work 39 weeks per year (term-time plus 2 weeks for planning and deep cleaning).
Out-of-Hours Working: Occasional evening hospitality for school events is agreed in advance and compensated with Time Off in Lieu .
