We are a small and convivial primary school with Christianity at our heart. Situated in the charming village of Chapmanslade, Wiltshire, our school is an inclusive place where every member of our school community shows love to their neighbour by demonstrating compassion, service, courage and trust. Our staff recognise all pupils as individuals, celebrating their strengths and differences, and supporting our young learners to achieve their full potential, experience personal successes and thrive in all that they do. In March 2023, we were proud to be confirmed as a ‘good’ school by Ofsted and recently joined Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to improve local education, collaborate with schools and draw on collective experience.

All about the role

Chapmanslade Primary School is looking for a dedicated and inspiring KS2 Class Teacher to join its vibrant team and support pupils in our Year 5/6 Redwood class while taking on additional responsibilities within school, starting from September 2026. The role requires an experienced teacher who would be confident to take on the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and, ideally, lead a core subject. The successful candidate will be highly organised, able to manage both classroom demands and other duties, including accountability as a DDSL and/or as a core subject lead.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to becoming a truly excellent teacher;
  • Can teach a broad range of engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment;
  • Can plan and deliver lessons and sequences of lessons to the highest standard that ensure real learning takes place and students make superior progress;
  • Is able to raise attainment and challenge students to achieve their best;
  • Has good knowledge and awareness of current initiatives in Key Stage 2;
  • Has solid knowledge in a core subject and is capable of developing the curriculum in that subject (advantageous);
  • Is an effective team member who can contribute positively to our team and across the wider school community;
  • Has a good understanding of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children (advantageous);
  • Has a positive, cheerful outlook with a good sense of humour;
  • Is able to forge good relationships with students and staff;
  • Is able to work hard and remain calm under pressure;
  • Has a desire to work within the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) structure.
