Join us as a Technical Officer and play a pivotal role in improving the county’s bus network through the National Bus Strategy and Wiltshire’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP). This role offers a unique chance to make a real difference in the lives of Wiltshire’s residents, improving transport options, supporting sustainability goals and helping to build a more connected, greener county.
As a Technical Officer, you will:
- Plan, shape and lead implementation of bus infrastructure projects, including new bus stops, shelters and bus priority schemes.
- Oversee the audit and maintenance of existing infrastructure.
- Coordinate data collection and collaborate with internal teams, bus operators and external partners on development projects.
- Engage with local representatives to drive improvements in passenger satisfaction, reliability and punctuality.
- Assist with funding bids, monitor project effectiveness and contribute to updating the Bus Service Improvement Plan as needed.
We are looking for someone with:
- A degree or equivalent in civil engineering or a transport-related field.
- Experience working in passenger transport, transport planning or civil engineering.
- Proven project management skills.
- The ability to analyse and evaluate transport data.
- A high level of numeracy for statistical analysis.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and diplomacy skills.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications, including spreadsheets and GIS software.
