Hours of work: Full-time, 37 hours per week.

Contract: Permanent. Location: Trowbridge Fire Station. Limited opportunities to work from home. This is not a Wiltshire Council vacancy; please contact Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service for further information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and manage the service‑wide PPE function, including issuing PPE, stock management, contract management, and project support (research and development of new products, working with the Supplies Manager to implement new practices).
  • Manage the Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) programme, including project management and implementation of RPE face‑fit programmes compliant with RPE Standard INDG479 and Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Assist with overall budget management within PPE and Supplies remits; forecast, plan, and control stock levels for PPE, and support the Supplies and PPE Manager and Fleet and Equipment Manager in building budgets and achieving efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • IOSH Managing Safely / Level 3 or willingness to work towards this / demonstrable equivalent level experience in a PPE environment.
  • Previous experience working within the guidelines of the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining working relationships with a wide range of contacts, both inside and outside the organisation.

Other Information

  • Full current driving licence required; the role involves significant travel. Own vehicle required but a service vehicle may be available (primarily manual transmission). Regular travel across Wiltshire with occasional travel in Dorset.
