Head of Financial Management

We are looking for a Head of Financial Management to join our senior leadership team and help lead the next phase of improvement across our finance service. This is an important role that will strengthen financial management across the council, support the development of our people, and help build a finance function that is trusted, resilient, and well placed for the future.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Procurement (Deputy S151), you will lead key areas including financial planning, budget setting, financial reporting and statutory accounts. You will work closely with senior leaders, elected members and partners, providing expert advice and helping to ensure the council remains financially sustainable.
We are looking for an experienced local government finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with visible and supportive leadership. You will enjoy developing people, raising professional standards, and building positive relationships across the organisation.
As deputy to the Director of Finance and Procurement, you will play an important role in strengthening financial leadership across the council, supporting informed decision making and helping to ensure resources are focused on the priorities that matter most to our communities. You will work closely with senior leaders, elected members and partners, helping to shape the future direction of finance across the organisation.
