Our comprehensive services include personalised one‑on‑one support, dynamic parenting advice and groups, assistance with accessing vital statutory and community services. All about the role
- As a Family Navigator, you will be a key part of the local community support network, helping families access the right services at the right time.
- You will work across Family Hub flagship buildings and community venues, acting as a visible, approachable presence for families and partner organisations.
- Help families, children and young people navigate the range of services available across the Family Hub network.
- Build strong partnerships with schools, early years settings, health services, and community groups.
- Advocate for families to ensure they receive appropriate support and overcome barriers.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and analytical records of family contact and outcomes.
- Promote Family Hub services through community engagement, including social media and local events.
- Support co‑production activities with families and colleagues to shape local services.
- Map community resources and work with partners to strengthen local support pathways.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, health professionals and educators.
- Support Family Hub Practitioners by connecting families to additional community resources.
- Attend community meetings, occasionally deputising for senior navigators.
- Promote volunteering opportunities to help strengthen local community resilience.
About you
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in a relevant field such as health, social care, family studies, youth work or community development.
- Experience working with families or communities in supportive or outreach-based roles.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of partners and services.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, local services and the challenges families may face.
- Strong organisational, problem‑solving and advocacy skills.
- Empathy, cultural sensitivity and a non‑judgmental approach.
- Ability to travel regularly across the service area; occasional regional or national travel may be required.
