We are seeking an outstanding School Improvement & Excellence Regional Lead, to play a central role in driving school improvement across the county. Working as a senior lead, you will help raise standards across all schools, with a particular focus on maintained settings, tackling underperformance and accelerating outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. This is a high-profile leadership role, engaging regularly with senior leaders, headteachers, governors, and key partners across the education system.

The Schools Effectiveness service, within the Education and Skills directorate, works to improve the performance of primary, secondary, and special schools across Wiltshire. It focuses on strengthening leadership, teaching quality, and outcomes by supporting and challenging schools, particularly those at risk of underperformance. The service aims to raise standards, close attainment gaps, and ensure all children and young people achieve their full potential.

You will take strategic ownership of workforce development, designing and delivering high-impact training programmes that strengthen leadership, teaching quality, and inclusion across primary, secondary, and special schools. Leading the council’s agenda for school improvement, you will commission support, analyse performance data, and provide robust challenge to ensure schools achieve strong outcomes and positive Ofsted judgements. You will also oversee quality assurance processes, identify risks early, and drive targeted interventions that close attainment gaps.

We are looking for an inspiring, experienced education leader with a strong track record of raising standards and developing others. You’ll bring excellent pedagogical knowledge, strategic thinking, and the confidence to influence at all levels. If you are passionate about improving life chances for all children and ready to shape the future of education in Wiltshire, we would love to hear from you - apply today.
