Responsibilities:

  • Library Support Assistants play a vital part in helping Wiltshire Libraries deliver inclusive, community‑focused services that promote reading, skills development, wellbeing, and equal access for all.
  • The role responsibilities include efficient processing of stock, managing data, creating promotional materials, sorting post and deliveries, and carrying out key operational tasks that enable libraries to meet customer needs, support local enterprise, and deliver the ambitions of the Library Strategy at the heart of each community.
  • Library Support Assistants receive and process library stock, source and prepare items for inter‑library loan requests, deal with errors, damaged items and replacements, complete invoices and prepare additional stock for library use.
  • They communicate with staff, suppliers, customers, contractors and volunteers so clear, professional communication both verbally and written is essential.
  • They also collate, verify and prepare data for entry into systems such as our Library Management System.

Qualifications:

  • You must have at least five GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade A-C or equivalent, and good use of ICT.
  • Previous library experience is not essential as we will train you in all aspects of library work.

Work pattern: Tuesday 9:00 am–12:00 pm, Wednesday to Friday 9:00 am–5:00 pm. All hours are office based.
