We are looking for an organised, customer‑focused Administration Assistant who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys supporting others to deliver high‑quality services to the community. This is an opportunity to join a forward‑thinking local authority committed to improving health, wellbeing and participation in sport and physical activity across Wiltshire.
You will work alongside experienced professionals in Leisure Services, gaining exposure to a varied workload, modern leisure management systems, and trusted public‑sector processes. The role offers scope to develop your administrative expertise, build confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders and grow your career within a large, supportive organisation that values flexibility, learning and work–life balance.
On a day‑to‑day basis, you will provide comprehensive administrative support, including:
- Handling enquiries from the public
- Maintaining records and databases
- Processing memberships and bookings
- Supporting computerised leisure systems
- Assisting with financial and invoicing tasks
- Organising information
- Producing accurate documentation and reports
You will also support meetings, projects and service initiatives as required.
You will have proven administrative experience, strong IT and communication skills, good attention to detail, and the ability to work calmly and professionally with customers and colleagues. A flexible, team‑oriented approach and a commitment to high standards are essential.
If you are motivated by public service and want to play a key role in supporting community leisure services, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Why us? Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer‑facing roles work entirely from their service location.
We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.
