This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Building Control team as a Trainee / Graduate Building Control Surveyor, where you can develop your skills while enjoying a strong work‑life balance and clear career progression.
We are a busy and supportive team managing daily site inspections, carrying out plan checks and advising customers on construction projects. In this role, you will begin to develop your knowledge and experience while supporting the team in ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and protecting public safety.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or those looking to start a career in Building Control. You will receive structured training, mentoring and support to build your technical knowledge and practical experience. You will assist with site inspections, learn how to assess plans and work towards a recognised professional qualification in Building Control.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections and carry out plan checks.
- Advise customers on construction projects and ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
- Support the team in maintaining a high‑quality service and protecting public safety.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree (or working towards one) in construction, building surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong communication skills, willingness to learn and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for business use.
Appointment Levels
- Trainee Building Control Surveyor: Post A Level candidates looking to begin a career in Building Control.
- Graduate Building Control Surveyor: People with HNC, HND or a degree or an equivalent qualification; alternatively accredited members of a professional body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB. Relevant degree subjects include building studies, civil engineering, structural engineering, building control, and building surveying.
Development Path
If appointed, you will follow a structured development portfolio to build the required skills and experience, with regular reviews. Progression through the roles is subject to successful completion of this portfolio.
