About the role
Wiltshire Police is proud to be recruiting a part‑time (15 hours) Multi‑Faith Lead Chaplain to support the wellbeing of our officers and staff. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference at the heart of policing. As our Multi‑Faith Lead Chaplain, you will provide impartial, confidential spiritual and pastoral care to people of all faiths and none. You will also lead and develop our dedicated volunteer chaplaincy team, offering strategic guidance and contributing to ethical, moral and wellbeing‑focused decision‑making across the organisation. This role is about being a trusted presence, building strong relationships, and supporting our workforce through challenging moments, operational pressures and times of crisis.
What you will be doing
- Build trusted relationships with officers and staff to provide meaningful pastoral and wellbeing support.
- Deliver impartial, confidential spiritual and pastoral care to individuals and families.
- Lead, manage and develop a multi‑faith team of volunteer chaplains.
- Provide strategic guidance on ethical, moral, faith and wellbeing matters to leaders and departments.
- Coordinate chaplaincy responses during major or critical incidents and support community recovery.
- Work collaboratively with faith groups, partners and community organisations.
- Promote awareness of chaplaincy support across the force.
- Maintain accurate records in line with legislation and force policy.
- Ensure your own continuous professional development.
About you and your experience
- Have recognised training, education or ordination in pastoral care, or chaplaincy or ministerial practice, supported by substantial experience of delivering pastoral care.
- Significant leadership experience within a faith or belief organisation.
- Experience in a pastoral, caring or support‑focused role.
- Experience leading teams or coordinating large groups of volunteers or staff.
