About the role
Are you a fully qualified and dynamic finance professional, ready to take the lead on financial excellence and strategic impact? We are seeking a driven and experienced Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy, ensuring robust governance, and supporting operational delivery across the force. This is a high-profile and challenging opportunity for an individual who can combine technical expertise with commercial insight and strong stakeholder engagement.
What you will be doing:
- Lead on financial reporting and delivering annual audit
- Manage compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Drive introduction of new ideas and delivering continuous improvement across the department
- Lead, manage and motivate a well-established and motivated team
- Provide financial advice to support decision makers at all levels
- Deputise for the Chief Financial Officer
- Engage with the Home Office and other key internal and external stakeholders
- Working with other forces as part of a regional collaboration, sharing new ideas, emerging technologies and best practice ideas and principles.
About you and your experience:
- Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA/ACCA/ACA/CIMA) or equivalent
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams
- Confidence to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders
