This role is part-time, covering 19 hours per week across Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (flexible). It is a fantastic opportunity to become a key member of a forward-thinking financial team, where you will shape and improve processes, drive efficiency, and ensure excellence. You will support the management and governance of accounting data and transactions across the Force and PCC, helping to uphold the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance within a public sector environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Act as a trusted finance partner, delivering insightful advice, assurance, and support to operational teams and stakeholders.
- Champion strong financial integrity, robust internal controls, and compliance across all areas of work.
- Administer and reconcile Court Compensation loans and receipts in line with established policies.
- Contribute to accurate and timely accounting outputs, including reconciliations, journals, and reporting in line with IFRS/GAAP standards.
- Maintain oversight of fixed assets and support governance around the capital approval process.
- Assist with audit activity and external stakeholder queries, while staying ahead of regulatory changes and helping to evolve policies and procedures.
- Support efficient and sustainable reporting cycles, including month-end processes, KPIs, and performance insights.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying smarter ways of working to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Part-qualified AAT (or actively studying towards qualification), or willing to work towards accreditation.
- Proven experience in a Finance Assistant (or similar) role within a complex organisation.
- Strong track record of ensuring financial data integrity and accuracy.
- Experienced in a fast-paced finance environment, ideally within the public sector (desirable).
- Comfortable working in a customer-focused setting with a collaborative approach.
