Our Strategic Planning Service undertakes exciting projects like preparing our local plan and minerals and waste plans, determining planning applications for minerals and waste developments, supporting our communities to produce neighbourhood plans, and measuring the performance of our development plans.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic planning professional to support the Service in preparing and monitoring long-term strategies and policies that ensure there is a sufficient supply of minerals for building materials and provide for the infrastructure needed for the management of waste in a large local authority area. This will include activities associated with collecting and analysing data on mineral resources and waste arisings, preparing consultation responses to ensure minerals and waste matters are safeguarded in development proposals, and monitoring the effectiveness of existing policies. You will research planning and industry issues relevant to Wiltshire and make recommendations for developing policies and identifying sites.
Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer-facing roles work entirely from their service location.
Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.
