About the Role
As an Experienced Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in our short-term, therapist-led reablement service. You will work directly with adults experiencing complex physical, emotional, or social needs, helping them achieve their goals through creative, strengths-based practice. You will manage a varied and rewarding caseload, conduct specialist assessments, and design innovative reablement plans. Working closely with families, carers, health partners, and community organisations, you will ensure every individual gets the right support at the right time. This role also includes opportunities to provide professional supervision to colleagues and contribute to the development of high-quality occupational therapy and reablement practice across the service.
What You Will Be Doing
- Undertaking complex occupational therapy assessments, including moving and handling and risk assessments.
- Designing and implementing personalised reablement plans that support independence and reduce long-term care needs.
- Working collaboratively with customers, carers, support workers, and partner agencies to review progress and adapt plans.
- Recommending and assessing for minor and major home adaptations to support safe, independent living.
- Supporting and guiding colleagues, including offering supervision and sharing expertise where required.
- Ensuring safeguarding responsibilities are met and that practice aligns with legal frameworks and Council policies.
- Keeping accurate, timely records and contributing to continuous service improvement.
About You
You will be a confident, compassionate Occupational Therapist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to promoting independence for adults across Wiltshire. Essential requirements include:
- Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
- At least 2 years of post-qualification experience, ideally working with adults.
- Strong knowledge of health, housing, and social care legislation and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience delivering adaptations, including through the Disabled Facilities Grant.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in challenging situations.
- Ability to manage a complex caseload, prioritise effectively, and maintain high professional standards.
- A driving licence is required for some roles; some travel across the county will be necessary.
Why Join Us?
Be part of a supportive team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred reablement. Work in a service where your professional judgement and creativity are valued. Access ongoing training, supervision, and professional development. Help shape and develop reablement services across Wiltshire.
