Are you organised, proactive, and confident working in a fast-paced environment? We are looking for a Business Support Officer to provide reliable administrative support to our council services. The role involves handling routine transactions, carrying out day-to-day administrative tasks, and supporting service activities in line with established procedures.
This is a varied and responsible role where you’ll manage your own workload, often balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. You will play an important part in responding to queries and service requests, ensuring information is complete and processed efficiently to support good customer outcomes.
You will respond to enquiries, process information accurately, and provide clear, consistent guidance on council processes and procedures. By managing regular workflows and supporting different service areas where required, the role helps ensure smooth and effective service delivery across the organisation.
Working closely with managers and colleagues, you will be responsible for keeping accurate records and have the ability to deal with the public and assist with general administrative support tasks. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders and handle enquiries in a professional and helpful manner. Your attention to detail, organisation, and ability to follow processes will be key to your success.
This is a great opportunity to support essential services and contribute to the efficient running of council operations.
Why us? Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer‑facing roles work entirely from their service location.
We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.
