Salary: Grade C - £29,064 - £30,518 per annum (rising by annual increments to £30,518).

Hours of work: Full-time 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Location: Service Headquarters, Salisbury OR Dorchester Support Offices, Poundbury - There will be a requirement to attend your centre of duty location on average one day a week for key activities and meetings. When you are not working from your centre of duty location there will be the flexibility to work from home / DWFRS Stations / Support Offices, and we will welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what type of flexible working arrangement will work best for you.

As a Recruitment Administrator in our People department you will:

  • Play a key role in delivering a wide range of recruitment and corporate induction activities, from wholetime and on-call recruitment to senior officer appointments, fire control (999 call handler) campaigns, corporate recruitment and promotions processes.
  • Represent the Service at recruitment and career events, helping attract and engage future talent.
  • Provide proactive People administration support to line managers, People Partners, and employees across the organisation.
  • Work closely with Recruitment Advisors to handle queries and help resolve HR-related matters fairly, consistently, and efficiently.
  • Support candidates and stakeholders throughout the recruitment journey, ensuring a smooth and professional experience.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including pre-employment checks and vacancy progression (internal and external), keeping timelines on track.

What makes you our ideal Recruitment Administrator?

  • 4 GCSE passes - Grade A*- C / 9 - 4, including English and Mathematics or equivalent Level 2 qualification (including L2 functional skills), or higher-level relevant qualification.
  • Previous relevant experience of working in an administrative and recruitment environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude to internal and external customer care.

You must be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role. A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment. Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre-employment checks which include identity checks, right to work in the UK, medical, receipt of satisfactory references, verification of employment history and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last 3 years.

This role is covered by the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers (Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016) requiring employees within public facing roles to speak clearly and confidently with members of the public and give accurate advice in English. Your spoken English will be assessed as part of the selection process.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 31 May 2026 (midnight). It is intended that a short assessment will take place on Monday 15 June 2026 and interviews will take place on Monday 22 June / Wednesday 24 June 2026.
