Fairfield Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and all staff are expected to share this commitment. All posts involving direct contact with young people, children and vulnerable groups are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All about the role:
We are looking for a strong and experienced Land-based Maintenance Tutor to join the team at Fairfield College. The ideal candidate will be conversant with a range of land management, maintenance, practical and outdoor working skills, including confidence in supporting young people to use a range of power tools and equipment, and understanding the importance of detailed and dynamic risk assessment.
The main focus of this role is to work with a broad range of young people to develop their use of health and safety knowledge, practical skills, tools and maintenance/repair work. There is an expectation that the post-holder will also embed the principles of Systematic Instruction in their practice. This role works alongside the maintenance team and is underpinned by real-work demand. This course is planned to be delivered at Entry Level through to Level 1. The main qualification offered is from BTEC.
This role will also include being a personal tutor to a group of learners. There is an expectation that you will contribute to planning, quality assurance and the annual review process, including monitoring and tracking progress using digital tools. You will have experience of working with a range of young people and be able to demonstrate highly skilled and creative learning opportunities that are highly personalised. You should have a track record of achieving excellent outcomes in teaching. You must be able to lead and develop the curriculum area in line with latest government policy. The post-holder will be responsible for evidencing learner progress and outcomes. Additionally, you will be self-motivated and able to work independently, prioritising your workload.
You will work as part of the Learning Team which consists of teaching and learning support staff. This post reports to the Programme Manager (Skills for Work). You will be required to work 38 weeks during term time every year between 01 September and 31 August. You will not be required to work outside term dates. All Trust employees will be required to submit a DBS application, at the appropriate level for the role, prior to employment being confirmed.
