A bit about us: Vallis First School is well-placed to be the ‘heart of Frome’ and we are preparing our children to be ‘ready for the world!’. Our historic building perches at the top of the hill on Milk Street, near the St. Catherine area of town. Our school is a family, surrounded by the warm embrace of our vibrant local community. We are proud to be a local authority-maintained community school and we strive to know our children and families well. Our aim is to bring out the best in everyone, enabling them to develop a lifelong love for learning and understand the part they can play in building their community. We offer a creative curriculum, underpinned by well-structured plans, in a nurturing learning environment where we aim to ‘grow curious minds’ in both staff and children.
We are seeking a special person who shares our vision and values, and who enjoys their job as a teacher. We are looking for a teacher who is committed and cares about our school and the people in it. Due to over subscription, we are opening a second Reception class to run alongside our existing class. Staff across the two classes will be able to support each other in planning. Although the vacancy is currently for EYFS, candidates need to be willing to work in older classes in the school in future years.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has experience of delivering the EYFS and/or year 1 curriculum.
- Has strong phonics, early reading and SEND knowledge but is also willing to learn.
- Is committed to the highest expectations of children’s learning and progress.
- Is enthusiastic and imaginative in creating engaging, surprising, learning experiences.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong relationships with our families.
- Is nurturing and able to encourage the best from every child allowing all to shine.
- Is a friendly, caring, team-player with a good sense of humour who can complement our team.
In return we can offer:
- Delightful, engaging children who love to learn.
- A dedicated leadership team supporting everyone in school to succeed.
- A stable team of experienced helpful colleagues.
- Several Teaching Assistants assigned to each class.
- Single year group classes.
- A beautiful, established Victorian school in the centre of Frome.
- Talented, creative and supportive families and governors.
- A school in which children are genuinely at the heart of everything we do.
We welcome applications from teachers who are committed to doing their very best for our school and community. If you believe that you could be the person we are looking for then we would like to hear from you.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Applicants must disclose all spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings that are not ‘protected’ under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 & 2020). An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant.
