We are looking for an experienced and confident Social Worker who is passionate about safeguarding children, supporting families and providing leadership through high-quality, relationship-based practice.

You will be part of the Family & Childrens Support and Safeguarding Service, a service focused on prevention, protection and achieving lasting outcomes for children and young people. This is an opportunity to grow and develop at a senior practice level, working alongside highly skilled professionals across social care and partner agencies. You will benefit from strong management support, reflective supervision, access to ongoing training and opportunities to influence service development, mentor colleagues and shape best practice, all within a forward-thinking organisation that values innovation, learning and staff wellbeing.

On a day-to-day basis, you will hold complex case responsibility for children in need, those subject to child protection plans and children in care, undertaking high-quality assessments, statutory enquiries and care planning. You will lead and contribute to multi-agency meetings, prepare detailed reports for conferences and court, support less experienced colleagues through mentoring and supervision, and play an active role in service improvement and quality assurance activity.

You will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with significant post-qualifying experience in children and families, strong knowledge of legislation and court processes, and the ability to manage complexity while providing professional leadership and challenge.

If you are ready to take the next step in your social work career and make a real difference, we would welcome your application.

This position comes with a 15% market supplement payment. All market supplement payments are subject to review on an annual basis.

Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer-facing roles work entirely from their service location.

We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.

We understand that AI tools can support you in preparing job applications. However, we value authenticity and would encourage you to ensure your submission genuinely reflects your own experiences, skills, and motivations.

While we welcome applications from job seekers who require skilled worker sponsorship, we are not able to issue a defined certificate of sponsorship due to limitations in our sponsorship capacity.

We are firmly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and to the principles of inclusion and diversity in both employment and the delivery of services.
