The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Our integrated approach means you will collaborate closely with Trading Standards, Animal Health, Licensing, and Environmental Protection, creating a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary environment that sets us apart from many other local authorities. If you are a qualified Environmental Health Officer, registered with the CIEH and have completed your Portfolio of Professional Practice, or are close to finishing, we would love to hear from you. Our Food and Safety Team is looking for a dedicated Environmental Health Officer to join their friendly, supportive team, where your work can directly benefit residents and businesses in Wiltshire. We also welcome BSc or MSc Environmental Health students graduating this year who have passed the Practical Food ID exam. For the right candidate, we will fully support you towards EHP registration.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out food premises inspections
  • Lead investigations and provide expert advice to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Be involved in health and safety and infectious disease investigations
  • Mentor junior officers and help shape service development
  • Represent the council formally when needed
  • Work across Wiltshire to meet service needs across a large, predominantly rural county

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Environmental Health Officer, registered with the CIEH and having completed the Portfolio of Professional Practice, or close to finishing
  • Alternatively, BSc or MSc Environmental Health student graduating this year who has passed the Practical Food ID exam
  • willingness to pursue EHP registration with support from the employer
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to meet service needs across the area
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own caseload, and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience with high-risk food processes or mentoring would be an advantage
