Assistant Management Accountant – The Role:

Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking a dedicated Assistant Management Accountant to join our dedicated team and contribute to the continued success of our financial operations.

In this vital role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial data, collaborating closely with budget holders to drive effective decision-making and operational efficiency. Your insights will help us shape and deliver the college's financial strategy and make a real impact on our future.

Assistant Management Accountant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Management: Prepare month-end adjustment journals, including prepayments and accruals, and help generate monthly management accounts with insightful commentaries on the Income & Expenditure (I&E) and balance sheet.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Assist in preparing accurate forecasts and work closely with managers to develop and align the annual budgets with the College’s strategic plans.
  • Partnership with Budget Holders: Collaborate with Budget Holders across departments, offering valuable advice to support sound financial decision-making and helping them optimise their income and control their expenditure.
  • Audit Support: Support the college’s annual audit process, ensuring a smooth and efficient review.
  • Variance Analysis & Actionable Insights: Analyse variances between actual performance and budget, providing recommendations for corrective action to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and evaluate financial systems and processes, identifying areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Assistant Management Accountant – You:

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience: You will have previous experience in management accounting, finance, or a related field. A working knowledge of financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes is essential.
  • Skills: Strong analytical abilities with excellent attention to detail. You’ll also possess excellent communication skills, able to convey financial data to both financial and non-financial managers.
  • Collaboration: You will thrive in a team-oriented environment, building effective partnerships with managers and stakeholders across the College.
  • Professional Development: We value continuous learning and support professional development.

Essential Qualifications:

  • An AAT Level 4 qualification.
  • To hold a Literacy and Numeracy qualification at Level 2 or equivalent (GCSE Grade C or above).
  • Commitment to and evidence of CPD.
