Due to the impending departure of a member of our current team on maternity leave, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Lecturer in Animal Care to join our dedicated team as we continue to expand our successful programmes in Animal Care & Management from Level 1 to Level 3 Technical Qualifications and T-Levels. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality education in Animal Care and to inspire the next generation of animal care professionals.

Located on a stunning 500-acre campus in the picturesque Wiltshire countryside, Lackham provides an exceptional environment for both teaching and learning. Our campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a large Animal Centre and an advanced Agri-tech centre, ensuring that our staff and students have access to the best resources available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and informative lectures, practical sessions, and tutorials across a range of Animal Care courses.
  • Develop and update curriculum materials to ensure they are current and relevant.
  • Assess and evaluate students' work, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of the Animal Care program, including participation in team meetings and curriculum development activities.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, helping to create a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry developments and integrate this knowledge into teaching practices.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance personal and professional skills.
  • Engage with industry professionals and organisations to enhance the learning experience and employability of students.

You:

We are looking for candidates who are not only experts in their field but also enthusiastic about teaching and mentoring. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant degree in Animal Care or a closely related field (applicants with a Level 3 qualification and relevant prior experience will also be considered).
  • Prior experience of teaching animal care, animal science, and/or animal husbandry within a post-16 environment.
  • A teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
