We are seeking motivated and hard-working individuals to join our team as a Welding Apprentice. Successful applicants will gain the opportunity to join our outstanding team, to be trained in all aspects of fabrication including:
- Adhering to all Company Health, Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures.
- Reading and understanding Weld Procedures relevant to the task.
- Ensuring all Welds are within the limits of the verified procedure.
- Cleaning the Weld, ready for inspection.
- Maintaining the Housekeeping of your working area.
- Using overhead Cranes and Mobile Elevated Platforms where trained to do so.
You will be working for one of the largest fabrication projects in the UK for a prestigious customer.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above which must include Maths and English Language.

RATES OF PAY
During your 6-month probationary period and fulltime secondment to Hartlepool College your rate of pay shall be £8.00 per hour (£15,600 per annum). Thereafter following annual reviews:
- £12.71 (£24,784.50 per annum) post satisfactory completion of probationary period
- £15.65 (£30,517.50 per annum)
- £18.61 (£36,289.50 per annum)
HOURS OF WORK
Initially you will attend Hartlepool College, based on their learning hours. Once on site at the company you will be working:
Monday - Friday 0700 hrs - 1500 hrs

WHAT TRAINING WILL THE APPRENTICE TAKE AND WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL THE APPRENTICE GET AT THE END?
The apprentice will attend Hartlepool College of Further education. Dependent upon entry level initially fulltime and thereafter day release. Successful completion of this programme will lead to a Level 3 Apprenticeship under the Plate Welder Standard. During your apprenticeship you shall receive further training such as confined space, overhead crane & Mobile Elevated Platform operation.
WHAT IS THE EXPECTED CAREER PROGRESSION AFTER THIS APPRENTICESHIP?
On successful completion of apprenticeship, the learner will have the opportunity for employment and career progression as a Welder. Current salary for a plater being £43,992 plus opportunity for overtime. During the apprenticeship and if successful thereafter there is continuous development within your trade to meet the specific needs of our customer. For some there will be opportunity to progress on other career paths within the business.

Applicants selected to progress to the next stage will be asked to attend an Open Day event in May followed by an interview and aptitude test. Offers will be made by end of June. Due to the nature of the work applicants must be UK Nationals and undertake BPSS screening. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards substance misuse and offers of employment shall be made subject to a negative drug test being taken.
