We are an award-winning potato processing and packing company employing over 120 staff who work from our 6-acre site in County Armagh. Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Procurement Manager to lead the procurement of potatoes across our business. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring a profitable, sustainable, and reliable supply of potatoes while supporting operational requirements and business growth. As Procurement Manager, you will lead supplier negotiations, manage purchasing processes, oversee the intake and stores team, and collaborate closely with internal teams to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure potatoes in line with operational demand and budget targets.
- Manage supplier relationships, including sourcing, negotiation, and performance evaluation.
- Lead forecasting, seasonal planning, and procurement strategies.
- Monitor market trends, costs, and supply conditions, providing accurate reporting and insight.
- Manage potato settlements, cold storage agreements, and storage utilisation.
- Drive departmental performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and develop the procurement and backgrading team while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and health & safety standards.
What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Procurement Manager or in a senior procurement role within the food industry, preferably fresh produce.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills, with experience managing procurement budgets, analysing market trends, and making strategic purchasing decisions.
- Proven leadership and people management experience, with the ability to develop teams and drive performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships internally and externally.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced agricultural/food production environment.
- Experience working with growers, agricultural suppliers, or primary producers would be advantageous.
